"Change is certain. Peace is followed by disturbances; departure of evil men by their return. Such recurrences should not constitute occasions for sadness but realities for awareness, so that one may be happy in the interim."
~Percy Bysshe Shelley
The second of three shots from the trip down the mountain from Dolly Sods. I kept stopping the car and shooting as the scenes and colors changed before my eyes. They were all so different, and I liked each of them equally. I couldn't choose just one.
The composition is spot on. There are lots of great leading lines to allow your eye to follow the path. The sun rays also serve that purpose as well, guiding your eye down from the top and onto the path.
The colors are great. Nice and saturated without feeling overdone. Although there are really only a few colors portrayed here, it works and helps draw you into the forest scene.
Finally, when I look at this photo, I can't help but wonder what is around that bend in the path. There is a glow of orange just beyond the curve from the sunlight that really draws me in.
Technically, the only few minor faults I might see are the contrast in the trees on the right is a bit high and it seems that some details are being lost in the shadow areas, specifically the tree trunks. However in this case I think that only helps draw the view back to the more important subject matter. The bush on the left Would probably be my only real point of contention. It is bright. It looks as if the highlights are clipped a bit in one or more of the color channels and its a little distracting.
Overall though, this is a fantastic image. Thanks so much for sharing!
