On Thin Ice by LAlight On Thin Ice by LAlight
Cathedral Falls was in the midst of thawing out after days of prolonged, subfreezing temperatures. Immediately, I saw this ice formation and wanted it in my foreground. So, I shot here for a few minutes, deciding to move left and try to get out from behind the rock outcropping. My plan, however, fell through -- as did I. The ice that you see to the right collapsed when I set up on it.

Luckily, my camera stayed safe. ;)

I need a sweater just to look at this! You capture so much in this shot. The water and rock seem to have switched identities; the rock seems to flow and curl while the water stands still. Great perspective.

 I don't know if I have the heart to tell him just how long a hike it was... ;)

Thanks so much for being my second pair of eyes on this one, DD! Still not satisfied with it, but I know for next time to get my desired shot BEFORE I break the ice. Appreciate ya, sweetie. :huggle:

Beautiful!

Every artist suffers for their craft...but they don’t usually end up wet. ;)
Hope it was a short hike back to the car...and the heater worked.

Well, for some reason Addam and I always do! Maybe it's our subject matter.

Thank you...and the hike was tolerable...a good 20 feet. ;)

So many nice things here... but especially the perspective! And you persevered with icy, wet feet? You certainly have determination. :-)

Thanks Tris! :)
This was just along the side of the road, so I didn't have a long walk back to the car. ;)
