Scenic Falling by LAlight Scenic Falling by LAlight
While this waterfall is called "Scenic Falls" I call it "Scenic Falling" because of the ridiculous number of times I fell in the short hike to reach this fall. :|

In normal conditions, I suppose it would take only a matter of 5 minutes to reach this fall, if that. During my visit, there were three or four feet of snow still blanketing the hillside leading up the falls. The problem was that the top of the snow was packed, but underneath, I think it had started to melt. Which meant that every step my 5'1" self took, I sank 3' into the snow, often having to be pulled out by my hiking partner. He did a great job of appearing to be sympathetic, but I think he was greatly amused that he glided effortlessly across the snow while I sank with every step I took! ;)

In all seriousness, it was well worth the extra effort I had to put forth to get there, as the falls are really quite beautiful.

It's a beautiful place to have to spend extra time falling and climbing back up onto the snow. Next time, I am taking snow shoes, that's for sure.

Scenic Falls
Highway 2, near Stevens Pass, WA

Beautiful LeeAnne! I bought snow shoes for situations like this and wouldn't you know it, we didn't have much snow, well until last month that is and I was in Alabama! :giggle:

definitely have to say it was worth the efforts after seeing this shot! been there multiple times trying to nail a shot like this..showoff! just love the exposure, beautiful flow with great texture! for a pretty cluttered and busy lil spot, you somehow managed to separate all the aspects of the image perfectly..especially like those rocks poking out of the pool :) just a fabulous shot, sweetie..definite kudos on this one :D

I'm glad you forced me up there! I honestly wanted to give up 10 steps into it (I'm sure you saw the frustration on my face...) but you were very, very encouraging. So, first of all, thanks for that. :aww:
So happy to hear that I did the spot justice! Was initially very unhappy with my shots from here when I viewed them on my laptop, but saw the potential when I got them up on my monitor. Also was just happy to find a spot that worked...setting up a comp here wasn't easy! (Which also reminds me of something else I wanted to talk to you about...remind me later!)
Anyway, thank you so much for the encouragement...wouldn't have gotten to half the places I did without it! :tighthug:

I'll wait a couple more weeks!! It sounds like you made a couple of holes on the trail!! I usually hike alone so that wouldn't be to good for me to get stuck. LOL!!!!
