Trepidation by LAlight Trepidation by LAlight
New shot of an old fall.

Made the trip up to the WV Highlands this weekend to see if any of the trees had started to change color yet. Not much color here on the North Fork Blackwater River, but the lighting was the best yet of any trip I've made here before.

Gorgeous snap! I've been in the area a few times myself...

Oh really? It's one that not many people know about unless you're a local (or know a local).

I meant the the Allegheny Highlands in the Eastern Panhandle of WV, not the place in the picture specifically. It's very beautiful up there. I visit Blackwater River while on trips to Canaan Valley sometimes. I am from Southern WV and travel a lot within my home-state.

Yeah, the water's actually fairly high for this time of year! It's been an exceptionally wet end of summer.

Thanks, DD. :)

A beauty. I'm afraid all this rain will not make for a spectacular color display. But if this shot were any more beautiful....

Hey, have you been to the Smallest Church? They claim it's the smallest church in America, or maybe the east coast, or something like that. Anyway, I've passed it a hundred times on the way to Blackwater Falls. I finally stopped and took pictures of it the other day just so I could show you! I will post them to scraps hopefully soon.

I think I have...I sort of remember seeing the sign and stopping by on my honeymoon. We went to Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland. My husband is a bit over 6'4" and we rented a really nice cabin. In one of the towns we passed, there were sheds for sale that looked like tiny cabins. I made him stand next to one for a picture, then showed it to people as the cabin we rented sight unseen. You wouldn't believe how many people said, "really?" Mwahahahaha.

It used to be on his website. Probably the best shot of these falls I've seen. Similar comp.
