Drainage from coke ovens and mining activity has forever stained the rocks of the North Fork Blackwater River. It also smells terrible.

But it's one of the most beautiful waterfalls in West Virginia, a favorite of many locals. I love coming back here time after time to shoot the river and falls in different light, seasons, and weather.
