Drainage from coke ovens and mining activity has forever stained the rocks of the North Fork Blackwater River. It also smells terrible. :(
But it's one of the most beautiful waterfalls in West Virginia, a favorite of many locals. I love coming back here time after time to shoot the river and falls in different light, seasons, and weather. :)

I would assume that they'd be somewhere between a gray and sand color. Most of the rock around here is sandstone. :)
