cant get over the detail you captured in the water of the fall! super crisp greens and rocks are balanced out nicely by the superbly exposed flowing water! i know you love this spot and that surely shows through your amazing imaged of this beautiful place..stunning stunning capture, LA!
I am so mad that I uploaded the wrong picture! I actually hadn't intended to upload this one yet, if ever, because I liked the other one so much. Oh well...I'll save it till later. Thanks for the kind words, DD...I do love this spot indeed. Thanks for sharing it with me all over again.
I think I would have cropped this differently out of personal preference, but what a lovely area. I love the greens and mossy rocks. A lot of waterfall shots can start looking alike after you see so many, so it's nice seeing something that stands out a little more on here.
I really feel the rock covered in moss on the left side of the screen stands out. I would have cropped somewhere underneath these rocks and then the rest of the photo would also have some of the other rocks that would help to create a frame. I just feel like some of the water at the bottom creates a bit of a dead space. For that same reason, I would also crop off part of the right side near where the trees from the other side of the bank start. I love photos of waterfalls, but because they all can have a tendency to be very similar, I love when there is something else to draw attention to and to help create some depth. After you asking this, I opened the image in photoshop to do a mock-crop of where I would have cropped it--so I could try to explain it better. I wish there was someway I could show you it, so my definition would seem more clear. This is something I love about photography...everybody can see something, and everybody would have done it a little differently.
I think I see what you're saying, as I look at the photo. If you want, I'm okay with you uploading it to your scraps just to show me, then just delete it afterward. I understand what you mean about how all the waterfall shots look the same after a while! I think that's partly why I love shooting them, aside from the amazing hikes that get me there. It's always a challenge to do something different, to find the lines and compositions that maybe might draw the viewer in. But you're right - we all would have shot and cropped this just a little bit differently. Thank you so much for your feedback, I don't get constructive criticism very much anymore!
